Written by someone who's worn the boots.

I'm Ben Corcoran. I spent over a decade in fire protection, starting in the fab shop, working fire alarms, then completing a sprinkler fitter apprenticeship and earning my journeyman's card. I fitted pipe on jobs across the country, from hospitals and schools to military bases and pharmaceutical plants.

I wrote this guide because nobody sat me down and showed me all the options side by side. Every trade has a great side and a hard side, and you deserve to know both before you commit.
